What padel actually costs in the UK.
We surveyed 155 UK padel venues and read the price off each one's own website. The median is £7.50 per player per hour off-peak. The bigger surprise is how few clubs will tell you anything at all.
Short answer. Across 155 UK padel venues surveyed in September 2026, the median published price was £7.50 per player per hour off-peak and £10.00 per player per hour at peak — £30 and £40 respectively for a doubles court. The bigger finding: 78 per cent of venues publish no price at all on their own website.
There is no published figure for what padel actually costs in Britain. Ask the internet and you get a range so wide it is useless. So we went and counted.
In early September 2026 we took a stratified sample of 155 UK padel venues, covering all thirteen nations and regions, and read each venue's own website looking for one thing: a court hire price. Not a price from a booking app, not a price from a directory. The venue's own published rate.
Here is what we found.
Finding 1: most venues do not publish a price
This was not what we set out to measure, and it turned out to be the most striking result.

Four in five UK padel venues hand pricing entirely to a booking platform. The overwhelming majority pointed at Playtomic; MATCHi and Padel Mates accounted for most of the rest. On those platforms the price only surfaces once you have picked a date, a time and a court.
The practical effect is that a player cannot compare two clubs without opening an app and running two searches. It is a strange gap for a sport growing this fast.
Finding 2: the median is £7.50 per player, off-peak
Of the 29 venues that published a rate, 21 published enough detail to normalise reliably — a stated basis (per court or per player) and a stated session length. Those 21 are the basis for the figures below.

So the honest answer to “what does padel cost” is about £7.50 each for an off-peak hour and about a tenner each at peak, with a spread either side that is wide but not chaotic.
Finding 3: peak costs a third more
Thirteen venues published both an off-peak and a peak rate. Every single one charged more at peak. The median premium was 33 per cent.

The largest premium recorded was 100 per cent, at Padel United Maldon, where the off-peak player rate doubles at peak. The smallest was 11 per cent at East Grinstead Sports Club.
Peak is defined slightly differently at every club, but the pattern was consistent: weekday evenings from around 4pm or 5pm, plus most or all of the weekend.
Finding 4: nobody agrees how to quote a price
Of the 27 venues publishing a usable rate, 17 quoted per court and 10 quoted per player. A handful stated no session length at all, and several quoted 90-minute blocks rather than hours.
This is why padel pricing feels incomparable. A club advertising “£40” and a club advertising “£10” may be charging exactly the same thing. Before comparing two clubs, check three things: per court or per player, how many minutes, and whether the rate quoted is the member or the visitor price.

Sample
We hold a working list of UK padel venues. From it we drew a stratified random sample: within each of the thirteen nations and regions, 20 per cent of venues with a listed website, or six venues, whichever was larger. That produced 155 venues. Selection within each region was pseudo-random and reproducible.
Collection
Between 5 and 6 September 2026 we visited each venue's own website and looked for a published court hire price, following at most one link to a pricing, booking or membership page. Where a price was found we recorded the figure exactly as published, the basis (per court or per player), the stated session length, whether it was a member or visitor rate, and the URL.
Normalisation
To compare venues we converted every rate to pounds per player per hour. Per-court rates were divided by four, since a padel doubles court holds four players. Rates quoted for 90 minutes were scaled to 60. Where a venue published no session length, or quoted only a “from” price, we recorded the figure but excluded it from the headline statistics.
What we excluded, and why
- Member-only rates. Two venues published a rate available only to members. They are in the CSV, flagged, but not in the headline figures.
- Prices from booking platforms. We did not read prices out of Playtomic, MATCHi or any directory. Only the venue's own published rate counts here.
- Coaching, social sessions and equipment hire. Court hire only.
Limitations
We want to be straight about what this survey does not tell you.
- Regional breakdowns are not reliable. After exclusions, several regions had only one or two priced venues. We have not published regional averages, because with that sample they would be noise dressed up as insight.
- It measures published prices, not paid prices. The 78 per cent that publish nothing may be systematically cheaper or dearer than the 22 per cent that do. We cannot tell from this data.
- Prices move. Every figure is as published on 5 or 6 September 2026.
- Peak definitions differ by club, so the peak premium compares each venue against itself rather than against a common clock.

Why we ran this
We are building Pocket Padel, an app that runs a private league for a crew that already plays together. Court pricing is not our business. It became obvious while building the venue side of the app that nobody had actually counted, so we counted. The data is free to use.

Why do padel prices vary so much between venues?
Three things drive it: time of day, indoor versus outdoor, and location. The median peak premium in this survey was 33 per cent, so the same court commonly costs a third more after 4pm. The most expensive venue surveyed charged £12.00 per player per hour off-peak; the cheapest charged £5.00.
Is padel more expensive than tennis in the UK?
Per court, usually yes. Per player, often not. A padel court is always shared by four players, so a £30 court works out at £7.50 each. Public tennis courts are frequently free or a few pounds, but private club tennis is comparable once membership is counted.
Do UK padel clubs publish their prices?
Mostly not. Of the 130 venues in this survey whose website loaded, 101 — 78 per cent — published no court price anywhere on their own site. They direct players to a booking platform such as Playtomic or MATCHi, where the price only appears once you select a specific slot.
Is padel cheaper off-peak?
Yes, at the venues that publish a split. Thirteen venues in this survey published both an off-peak and a peak rate, and every one of them charged more at peak. The median premium was 33 per cent and the largest was 100 per cent.
Are padel prices per court or per person?
Both are used, which is the main reason quoted prices look inconsistent. Of the 27 venues in this survey that published a usable rate, 17 quoted per court and 10 quoted per player. A £40 court and a £10 player rate are the same price.

We drew a stratified sample of 155 UK padel venues across all 13 nations and regions, then read each venue's own website for a published court hire price. Every figure in the survey traces to a URL we read, listed alongside it. No prices were taken from booking platforms or third-party directories.
