Padel apps in the UK, by what they actually do.
Padel apps are not really competing with each other. They do four different jobs. Work out which job you need done and the choice makes itself.
Short answer. UK padel apps fall into four groups: booking platforms, matchmaking apps, scoring and statistics apps, and league apps. Playtomic dominates booking. Scoring and statistics are crowded. Private leagues for a fixed crew are the thinnest category, and that is what Pocket Padel is being built for.
"Best padel app" is the wrong question, because the apps are not competing with each other. They do different jobs. Work out which job you need doing and the choice becomes obvious.

1. Booking apps
Playtomic is the most widely used booking platform in UK padel clubs. You find a club, see live availability and pay for the slot. It also carries a level rating and matchmaking, so it doubles as the answer to "I have nobody to play with tonight". MATCHi is the main alternative and is used by a number of UK venues, particularly those with tennis courts alongside padel. Many clubs also run their own booking system.
Practical note: which app you need is decided by your club, not by you. Check what your venue uses before downloading anything.
2. Matchmaking apps
These connect you to other players by level and location. Playtomic's matchmaking is the most established in the UK simply because it has the most players on it. The value of any matchmaking app is entirely a function of how many people near you use it, so the biggest one usually wins.
If you already have a group of four to ten who play weekly, matchmaking is solving a problem you do not have.
3. Scoring and statistics apps
The busiest category. It splits into two approaches:
- Wearable apps run on an Apple Watch or Garmin and either detect strokes automatically or let you tap the score in as you play. Good for individual performance data: shot counts, heart rate, patterns over time.
- Phone scoreboards keep the score on a phone, sometimes with a shareable link so people not at the court can follow along.
These are genuinely useful if you want to know how you play. What almost none of them do is remember that last Tuesday's result matters to a table that has been running for six weeks.
4. League apps
The thinnest category, and the one with the clearest gap. There are club-facing tools for running organised competitions with fixtures, divisions and administrators. There is very little built for the actual unit of UK padel: five or six mates with a standing Tuesday booking who want a table.
